A coffee house, in the old sense

Somewhere to sit down, not just to pick up.

In the Gulf, coffee has always come with a seat and a second cup. We built Qahwa & Co. around that: a long walnut bar, a majlis room with low cushions, and a terrace that faces the lake from October to April.

Behind the bar it is modern specialty coffee: green beans bought from named farms, roasted twice a week, weighed and timed on every shot. In front of it, nobody hurries you.

House signatures

Six things to order first.

The drinks and plates regulars ask for by name. The full menu runs from Spanish lattes to a breakfast tray for two, with vegan and gluten-free options marked.

From first espresso to last cortado

One room, four moods a day.

The lights, the music and the menu shift through the day. The coffee does not.

  1. Early quiet

Croissants out of the oven, the bar at its calmest. Laptops welcome at the long table.

  2. Long breakfasts

Labneh eggs, the breakfast tray and filter coffee for the table. Book at weekends.

  3. Afternoon cold

Date cold brew, matcha clouds and kunafa to share while the terrace shades over.

  4. Evening on the lake

Qahwa poured in the majlis, decaf on request, and the fountains a few minutes’ walk away.

Guest words

What regulars tell us.

The saffron flat white is the reason I leave home ten minutes early. It tastes like saffron, not syrup.

Mariam · Business Bay

We booked the majlis corner for my father’s birthday. They had the qahwa poured before we sat down.

Omar · Weekend regular

Walked over from the fountains at 9 pm and still got a proper filter coffee. The cardamom bun travelled home in my bag.
